The original New Big Sky Singers was made up of four members
of the highly acclaimed University of Montana vocal touring group, the
Jubileers.
The group is made up of well-known performer and songwriter, Rob
Quist; Don Collins, former lead baritone for the Seattle Opera Company,
currently residing in Seattle; Gary Funk, Associate Professor of Music at
the University of Montana and current musical director for the University
of Montana Choir and Jubileers ; and Don MacDonald, an active member of the
musical community in Anchorage, Alaska and original leader of the musical
trio, "Devlin, MacDonald and I.
The group reunited recently for a 10 day tour and decided to put
out a CD in honor of their musical history and shared beginnings with the
University of Montana Jubileers. A portion of sales from the resulting CD
will go to fund the present U of M Jubileers. The recording offers a rich
and eclectic mixture of Folk, Country and Celtic Music with an occasional
touch of classical and features original music delivered with exquisitely
beautiful harmonies and voice quality. In the words of Rob Quist, "Truly,
this is one of the finest groups of singers I've ever appeared with!"
